International Science and Technology Centre (ISTC) meets with Mongolian stakeholders to discuss potential participation in EU CBRN CoE Project 53

On 11 October 2016 ISTC representatives, Dr Hendrik Visser and Dr Graeme Frith met with various Mongolian stakeholders to discuss potential participation of Mongolia in EU funded Project 53 of the EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative.  The meeting was hosted by the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Committee on Biosafety which is under the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.


The objective of the meeting was to explore further avenues of cooperation between Mongolia, ISTC and the EU CBRN CoE Project 53. The success of the meeting was ensured by the participation of numerous representatives of the Mongolian government institutions in charge of Environment, Biosafety, Biotechnology, Nuclear Energy, Defence and Sciences, and the support of the Mongolian Embassy in Astana.  ISTC representatives provided an overview of the EU CBRN CoE Initiative, scope of Project 53 and the ISTC.  The participants concluded with a series of follow up actions to ensure the participation of Mongolia in the activities of Project 53.
